Did I really spend $60.00 on valentine’s for 2yr olds?? February 15, 2011

Yes, yes I did!  I felt some kind of way that I was unable to express my creativity for Halloween so I had to make it up for Valentine’s Day!!  I literally have years worth of recipes and ideas I have been saving up in my “when I have kids” mental and physical folders.  If I didn’t start using them now I would come up with new ones and these would go to waste!  I don’t believe in waste:-)

I purchased recycled plantable Valentines day cards from Botanical paper works for all the kids in his class.  What good are flower seeds if you have no flower pot?  Off to ikea to buy 20 flower pots!  Well we couldn’t have plain flower pots can we?  Nope, the kid and I hit up party city to buy stickers and “stuff”!

the finished Valentine's!

Once we got to party city I realized I needed something else.  I wasn’t going to have time to bake and I certainly wasn’t going to put packaged candy in their pots.  I don’t allow my kid to eat it so I wouldn’t feed it to anyone else’s kid.  We strolled through the wedding aisle and I saw these mini pots, they were so cute I had to get them!  It was then decided that I would do caramel sauce and pretzels.  We bought some tulle bags on sale and off we were to the lab to create our master pieces.  By the time we got home and finished our Chipotle the kid was sleep and I was on the couch.  The projects would have to wait until tomorrow.

Homemade caramel sauce for the kiddies!

Well Sunday came and I completely forgot it was Grammy night!  So we were trying to do Valentines pots while I tweeted and watch the Grammy’s at the same time.  Bad idea,  the kid got carried away with the stickers while I wasn’t paying attention which was most of the time the Grammys were on:-)  When the show went off the kid went to bed and I buckled down to get it done.  I finished and potted the caramel sauce, packaged and put in the pretzels. Everything was ready to go!

Sticker overdose while mommy gagged at the Lady Gaga omelette!

In the morning I realized I needed instructions on how to heat the caramel as well as a list of ingredients in it in case kids were allergic!  After it was all said and done it took me 8 hours and 60 bucks to make stuff for two-year olds who could care less.  Luckily I have pictures to remind myself how I supermom’d it out on Valentines day 2011:-)  Go me!

If I could remember the words to the “Wonder Woman” song, I would have typed them here. What a wonderful mom you are. I’m sure all of the kids appreciated the pots (eventhough they probably wanted candy they could half eat, and spit out). Phnewfula for PTA President, and Mom of the Year!!

    • haha thank you nikki. I’m sure if you were one of the kid’s parents you would have sent a note back to school requesting chocolate covered bacon dipped in coca cola stating real kids eat pork and pretzels are for wienies!
